DESCRIPTION:

This session will focus on how universities can help recruit, prepare, and retain educators for rural communities. It will begin with examples from the UW-Platteville School of Education. The second part of the session will provide an opportunity for participants to share additional ways universities can help fill the need for educators in rural areas.

PRESENTER: Tim Buttles serves as director of the School of Education at UW-Platteville.

Prior to joining UW-Platteville, Tim taught in the Agricultural Education program at UW-River Falls. His teaching career began as a high school agriculture and biology teacher, FFA advisor, and Science Olympiad coach.
