DESCRIPTION:

In this session, faculty and staff from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville will lead a discussion on what Act 20 means for teachers and child care professionals who support young children’s language and literacy development.. We’ll provide a brief presentation examining ACT 20 from the lens of childcare providers, preschool teachers, elementary teachers, and special education teachers. We’ll share how we are training future teachers and child care professionals and how we envision the future of reading foundational skills instruction for young children. We’ll also address why vertical and horizontal collaborations are critical in preparing a generation of skilled readers. The session will also encourage a dialogue among participants about ACT 20 and the implications it has on reading instruction. Please join us for a collaborative conversation about best practices in early literacy.
